Check out the following two errors. I receive them one after the other. MS it's really full of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Event ID:8021 ERROR: BROWSER

The browser was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\STACI-USA on the network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{1D4DF66B-FE0A-4E24-B4B2-34FF220E31F9}. The data is the error code.

Event ID:8032 Error:BROWSER

The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{1D4DF66B-FE0A-4E24-B4B2-34FF220E31F9}. The backup browser is stopping.

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

If all the computers on the lan are staying on site, (not mobile) then you can safely turn off the "computer browser" on all your machines. This means that the computer \\STACI-USA has control of this service and has probably been shut off. If you'll notice, you probably cannot browse the network thru network places.

Thank you very much.I will try it

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

btw, after all is said and done, restart the computer browser on the server...

8021, 8032 browser failures are a design flaw in Windows 2000. I have opened multiple cases with Microsft and not one has been resolved, but only refunded. Microsoft has apparently resolved the issue in Server 2003 or 2003 just does not report the errors I do not know for sure. Your only real fix is to upgrade to 2003 if you have out of service issues regarding this error. Microsoft has never publically admitted to this design flaw and is apparently unable to patch or fix it.

The only response MS has given is due to multi-homed computers but for 90% of the people and networks I have worked on with this error, no servers are multi homed or have Cisco PIX's.

8032 browser failures are a huge problem on terminal or Citrix servers as when the browser service fails in the old days the ICA browser would fail as well. With the newer versions of Metaframe Citrix has worked around this issue.

The problem seems to lie in RPC where a server requesting the browse list is not returned any response. The request is received but a response is never given (from watching a network trace). I have assumed that the problem is with RPC or TCPIP stack where the stack becomes to busy and this browse request is either dropped in priority or not processed.

There are other cases where a security issue can prevent the transfer of the browse list but this is not usually the case for the networks I have experienced this error on.

If you want to browse any network services using network neighborhood you need leave the computer browser service enabled.
