Last night my backup failed because I got this error. There was a tape in the device that has been used several times before. When I put Wednesday's tape in the device the backup started up, so I canceled the backup. Should I remove the tape from the set and add a new one or erase the tape and use it again?

Thanks everyone,
John

Most likely the job you were running needed more space than what was left on the tape. When that happens you need a second tape to finish the job.

There was a tape in the device that has been used several times before

Check your job, it's probably set to Append.
