Event ID 5000 Exchange IS wont start Server 2003

Hi all,

I hope your all haveing a better day than me.

Ok.

Setup is four servers all running 2003 sp1.
Site A = App server and Exchange, both AD.
Site B = App server, with AD.
Site C = App server again with AD.
Site A is connected to B and C via VPN's.

I restarted exchange server and exchange failed to re-start. I have installed Exchange SP2 with the associated connectivity hotfix and still no joy.

I have events:
5000 - Failed to search for msExchUce in DS
8197 - Error initializing session for Virtual machine.
listed.
I also have a Success event in my Application log for DAVEX. This states that DAVEX started.
Ive not seen this before and don't know if it something to do with SP2.

Can anyone help me??

I asume you tried checking Microsoft's website.

Yes, I did check their site.

It turns out it wasnt the exchange box. It was the other onsite DC.

Still not 100% sure how I fixed it but the exchange services are now running.
