Ok, this is an intermittent problem. Does not happen all of the time. Often if the user prints again it will work, sometimes not.

The Server is Windows 2003 fully updated, the workstations all run Windows XP SP2, the printers are HP Business Inkjet 1100 shared through the server.

I have tried the latest drivers, no change. I tried giving all users "Print Operator" rights, no change. As an admin user, I never have this problem seem to have this problem.
The rights to the spool folder look fine.

Here is the event log text:
-----
The document Microsoft Word - document.doc owned by StudentUser failed to print on printer Printer01. Data type: NT EMF 1.008. Size of the spool file in bytes: 193940. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 1. Client machine: \\192.168.1.73. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 5. Access is denied.
----

Ready to pull what is left of my hair out.

Any thoughts?

Is that connected to the server via USB? If so, I'd look for a external JetDirect to move it off the direct connection to the server...could be a funky USB issue...

No printers have built in JetDirect devices.

Weird, lots of people in different forums admit to this problem, but no one knows of a solution other than pointing to some vague and useless MS KB article. Guess I strike out on this. Oh well..
