Hi,

I recieved a copy of win2k professional evaluation copy from a training course. I like the product and will purchase the complete version.

My question: Do I have to scratch the current install and start from fresh (losing all settings ( ) or can I install over the top of the existing installation (a sort of upgrade)?

Many thanks for your help.

Well, I have never personally tried what you have asked, but when it comes to operating systems unless it is an upgrade version, I ALWAYS suggest doing a clean/fresh install.

You can probably save custom settings either from the registry and save shortcuts and things you have to an alternate folder and then put back into your fresh install.

In my long experience of OS installations, installing over operating systems with another (even if its the same OS) can introduce more trouble than it's worth or even be worth trying to deal with after the fact.

Good luck on whatever you choose to do.

Cheers!
