My router is a 7204 VXR and it currently has 10 companies connected to it, how can I verify if my router is still capable of handling additional 5 companies? what are the things in detail is should check in my router? if possible, be specific.

Thanks,
Max

Some things to look at as far as router performance are the memory and CPU utilizations. Commands such as:

show process memeory history
show process cpu history

This will give you relatively detailed information if the rotuer itself is overloaded or needs attention. There are tons of monitoring tools that canalso be used to determine if bandwidth ontraints are a probelem.

In general, a 7200 series VXR router can handle wuite a bit. As I'm sure you already know, it is a very high grade consumer router meant to consolidate multiple links or networks. You may not have a problem with capacty at all!

What NPE is it using? 225, 300, 400, G1?

Also, when you say "5 companies", we really need to know the link speeds of the "5 connections".

Here are the rough throughputs for each of the NPE's:

7204VXR w NPE-225 – 225Kpps – 109.9Mbps
7204VXR w NPE-300 – 300Kpps – 146.5Mbps
7204VXR w NPE-400 – 400Kpps – 195.3Mbps
7204VXR w NPE-G1 – 1000Kpps – 488.3Mbps
