Is there a difference between the fastrads in Canada and the European fastrad?
The problem is, I cannot connect directly to the fastrad with my laptop. It will work if I program it to answer a specific line or operator assist.
I have used a null modem cable, a straight through and a straight through with a null modem adaptor. None of these work.

Are you in the UK?. If so, then you might be using an ERad. You need to downgrade them using the fastrad.exe file which was meant to upgrade the NA modems to allow them to work over PRI trunks.

I can help you, but don't post your email address here!.

No I am in Canada. The company I work for just bought a couple for in house testing. I have one question, is a null modem cable the same as a straight cable?

I have tried a couple of these fastrads with diferent laptops but the fastrad doesn't respond to a direct connection

Have you downgraded them?. The ERad's have a different password structure as they were designed for the UK Telco called "BT" when they have sole rights to the Norstar range.

Although I can't post out the password, I can say that it was a mixture of letters and numbers. Because of this, It wouldn't work with the NA's version of NRU as that only supports numbers.

Therefore by "downgrading" them, you can cheat and use them!.
