Hi all. I must be a few cups of coffee short today, and must be missing something simple. I am trying to save and change IOS's between 2500 routers. I have done this before without a problem. I have a 2500 connected to a WinNT 4.0 server (with Cisco's tftp server application) via a tranciever and crossover cable (to the server's NIC). The interface is up, line protocol is up. I can ping the interface from the router, I can ping the address of the tftp server from the server, but cannot ping between them. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

are the router and server on the same subnet? and just check that the server doesn't have a different DG, although if they are on the same IP range and connected via a Xover cable the DG shouldn't matter, unless you have more than 1 NIC on the server!!!!

Thanks for the response watchguardmonkey. Yes the router and the server are on the same subnet, connected by a crossover cable.1 NIC on the server. I have connected this way before. Different DG?

Some of the older routers had both an aui port and a ethernet port for the same port and you had to select which one you wanted to use in the config . Other than if their addresses and netmask are equal it has to ping , it is the same wire .

Thanks viperegg. I am trying this on both an old (v9.3!!!!!!) and 12.0. I'll run a check again tonight, but did not see anything for 2 ports, not even on the IOS 9.3 version.

Different DG? Default Gateway on the tcp/ip settings.
Please paste up your Ip setting on the server and the router thanx.
