I have a HP 8570C made for win 98 here . No recovery Cds .
HP doesn't support them anymore , and has no clues .

Ethernet P/n 143127-411 rev. 01B
FCC ID # HEDEN1207DTX R01
One chip is MXP038

Device shows in device manager with a yellow error ( presumably needing a driver ).

I've found and tried a Few EN Zips .

I may have had one , but the read me of set up seems complicated .

Anyone have knowledge how I can get the Ethernet card recognized and working ?

I have tried this one , but how would I set it up ?

I have unzipped it , and rebooted with no luck .

Tercr6,

After you unzip this, you should have a new folder called hpopen1207. Within this folder you will find a folder called WIN98. Within that folder is the driver itself (net1207d.inf) and a file called WIN98.txt

In WIN98.txt, you will see:

Setup instructions for Windows 98 :
===================================

1. Delete the "PCI Ethernet Controller" DEVICE

- Go to the "System Properties" Window
- Go to "Device Manager" , "Other devices"
- Remove the device named "PCI Ethernet Controller"
(You should have an icon with a question mark on it indicating
that the adapter is not recognized by the Operating System).

2. Install the "HP EN1207D-TX 10/100 RPO Fast Ethernet Adapter"
driver

- Shutdown and Restart your computer
- System will detect a New PCI Ethernet Card, insert drivers disk
- Enter full path to network drivers, follow instructions
- Enter the Network identication for your PC
(Computer name , Workgroup , Computer description )
- Shutdown and restart your computer to finish setting your
devices.
- Enter your "Network user name" and
your "Network password"

Hope this helps

I don't know why but It took a couple a trys to take hold .

I had to point it to unzipped folder in C: , then the .inf file in win98 folder .

Thanks , somedays it just works out and other not . This is day 3 :)
