Hey all,

is it possible to escalate a users privelages? For example, in nix you can just type su or sux and be given admin privelages - is this possible in a windows environment?

The reason I ask is that I provide support over remote desktop for external users connected to a citrix farm - when I shadow them I only get their privelages (user) and could do with admin most of the time.

Thanks

The Windows equivalent to the Unix/Linux "su" command would be the "runas" command. "Runas" will allow you to run programs under the permissions of another user. You can use this command from the command prompt or by holding down shift and right-clicking a program icon and selecting "runas" from the context menu.

- Runas

You could also look into installing a "su" utility for Windows.

- Where can I find a Unix su (substitute user) like utility?

Su.exe was also part of the Windows 2000 Resource Kit Tools.

- Where can I download the Windows 2000 Resource Kit tools?

Cheers, maybe I should have searched a little harder!
