Errors with mixed brands of RAM DIMMs

In an old Pentium 200 MMX system, I added 32mb of Mitsubishi MH4S64CZTJ-15 to 32mb of Hyundai DYV644M84-10FGV. Windows 95 loaded ok and showed 64mb of system RAM, but one error, of a file which appeared to be a .gif file in the MozillaFirebird folder incorrectly named, and then non-delete-able by Windows('no such file...') occured with directory copying, and blue-screen errors also were seen with other applications, including the Opera web browser.
The Windows Memory diagnostic also showed errors when both RAM modules were installed, I think with the LRAN test, but the diagnostic tested ok with either module installed alone.
As far as I know, both modules are PC66 SDRAM, but I don't know if they're mis-matched in some other way.
Could some other type-mismatch cause the blue-screen errors and diagnostic errors?
Thanks for your advice.

If it's a Pentium 200 MMX, chances are that you're using EDO RAM instead of SDRAM, though it could be either one.

If it's EDO RAM, then there were several types that had different timings like 60ns or 70ns (ns = nanoseconds). They can be mixed, but doing so can also cause problems like what you're describing.

Particularly in older systems before DDR SDRAM came out, it was best to use matching brands/sticks when possible.
