ibm server running sbs 2003. ibm dds5 72i backup. using windows backup.

failed to backup last night the first error was "a parity error was detected in \device\scsi\adpu3201"

the 2nd error in even log was "rms cannot manage library tape0 failed to communicate with device or obtain device setup information"

the machine had the main board replaced about a week ago because it was crashing all the time. hasn't crashed since then and has been backing up fine for the past week. the firmware and drivers are up to date.

any idea's

possibly incompatible device??

"the machine had the main board replaced "
the server?

is the replacement exactly the same as the deaded mainboard?

have you tried completely uninstalling and removing drivers, then installing fresh again??

from day 1 the machine was a nightmare. ibm came down and replaced the board. before that one of the hard drives went also replaced by ibm. i know when the hard drive went the operating system had to be put on and when they did the board they updated the drivers etc.

forgot to say i did a manual backup fine this morning. its like an intermittant problem
