I took over reporting for an old employee & am unable to run one report off my machine. Her computer runs on Windows NT 4.0 Service Pak5 and mine is Windows 2000 NT5; both are using Crystal 8.0.1.0. When I attempt to 'Set Location' on the report, the User ID Does not update and I then receive and Application Error (The Exception Illegal Instruction) and must Terminate or Debug Application. I have also attempted to Verify DB and Refresh Data; it does not get to prompting me for password (I assume this is due to it reflecting the old user id) - I receive 'ODBC error: General Error: Invalid file dsn 'CAM.dsn''

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

It sounds like an access error. W2k is much more security concious than NT4. I would try that first. If you are using VB as a front end, you can pass CR the dsn, userid, and password through code. Check "Users and Passwords" under Control Panel and see what group you are under. My guess is that you will need admin or power user status to change dsn information. Hope this helps!

I was able to 'Set Location' on all of the other reports that were transitioned over to me. To be sure that there was not an individual setting that I overlooked, I verified that I have full admin rights. All of the other reports are using the same ODBC connection; yet this one will not update the "User ID and Password". I printed and checked the reporting code and do not see anything set internally. Do you know if there are any formatting buttons that would lock the User ID to the report?

Thanks )

Hi,
I don't know of any. Maybe someone else here can help you. If you only have 1 report not working, have you thought of rewriting it from scratch? Sorry I can't help you more. Good luck!
