I get this error box when trying to add components to my visual basic project: "System Error &H80004002 (-2147467262). No such interface supported."

I've been trying to reinstall the program over and over, each time completely uninstalling the whole thing and each time I get trouble here.

Any ideas?

One cause is comcat.dll not being registered correctly. It should be in the Windows system folder, if not copy it from the VB CD. Then register it with the Run command:

regsvr32 comcat.dll

I did the regsvr32 comcat.dll and it registered successfully. I'm still getting the same error, what else is causing this to happen?

There's a KB article for VB5 that describes a similar problem when an incorrect version of comcat.dll is registered.
I'm running VB6 SP4 and my base comcat.dll which I include in packages is version 4.71.1460.1 but it only gets installed if the existing version is same or earlier. On my XP Pro development machine it's version 5.0.2600.1.

We had a similar problem after installing an older version of Crystal Reports.... is that maybe the case here?? If so, you can go to Crystal Descisions website to get a fix for it. Just a shot in the dark.
