Error when using an XSL on an XML document

I an trying to translate an XML document into another XML using XMLSpy. I am writing a XSL to get the information needed. everytime i use the XSL to translate the file it comes up with the following error:

The XML page cannot be displayed

Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Documents and Settings/”user”/Local Settings/Temp/tmp0001.xml'. Line 11, Position 42

it has something to do with the & sign. This is in a lot of the text which is needed.
I am new to XML, so if i haven't explained myself properly please let me know.

You need to understand about processing entities. I googled up this article:
