I have a problem that is starting to give me a real headache. My Exchange server (version 5.5) was working fine until the motherboard died. To make it worse there was also a problem with the backup, so we could not restore from tape.
Once we got the machine repaired and rebuilt, I was re-entering the email accounts in exchange and there was one email address that it would not let me type. I keep on getting the error message ‘This email address already exists in the organisation. Error message: c10312e7’.
If I look up this error on Technet, it tells me that I need to export the entire global address list to search for this repeated address. I have done this, and it doesn’t exist anywhere.
To temporary work round this problem I have renamed the email account to forname.surname1 instead of surname.forname. But this is causing just as many problems, as this person (my boss) is not getting any emails. Short of asking this person to change their name, I’m struck. Does anybody have any advice or tips?
