I am trying to Import an Excel 97 file into Access 97 using the Import Wizard.
The error message is:
"An error occurred trying to import file 'C:\Book1.xls'. The file was not imported".
I've imported files many times before with success. This one Excel file will not import into Access. I've saved it under different names, copied the sheet I want into a new workbook, and other tricks to try and get around this.
Is there something wrong on the Excel side or the Access side?

It would appear that something is wrong with that particular .xls
Create a blank Speadsheet and copy and paste the cells from the bad one to the new one, then save the new one and try to import it into Access.

DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.

This brings a new meaning to bad data ;)
I copied and pasted the cells into a new workbook and tried to import. I get the same error message!
I tried a few other things - reformatting, saving in yet another workbook, and importing without using the first row as field names. The only thing that finally worked was to delete the first row and then manually type them back in a new first row. I don't know why this worked, but maybe someone has an idea. At least I know what to try if this happens again.
Thanks for the suggestion.
