I have an external domain ,say, home.com with an 'A' record for to my home router, say 123.321.123.1, which has a port forward (port 80) pointing to my server 192.168.0.1 running IIS 6.

The problem :
Externally when i browse i get my web site BUT when i use the same address internally I get the admin panel on the router - it doesn't forward me onto the web server

Any ideas ??

What's the internal address of your router?

Does your router support port forwarding for both incoming and outgoing traffic? Maybe you've only got it set up for incoming...

I've had this happen recently, and I resolved my problem by configuring the website header to match the url of the web address.

For example, in IIS 6 right click>properties of home.com.
On the website tab, look over the IP assigned (if any) and be sure that the router is forwarding to this IP. In my case I left the site unassigned. On the advanced button next to the IP entry, check to see what headers are associated with your site.

Again in my case I added a header that was the same as the URL of my site and in your case that would be home.com.

Hope this helps,
