Error "edit"-unrecognisable command

Hi Guys,

I am using Win XP operating system. Anytime I try typing the command "edit" on the command prompt (c:\), I always receive this error-"Unrecogable command..." Please, Could you give some clues on how I can get around this problem.

Since "Edit" at the command prompt should pull up the MS-DOS editor, you might get a better response in forum779.
