I like to use Microsoft Photo Editor to do basic editing on scanned hand written document pages on my XP Home computer. When I transferred these edited pages to my Win 98 computer I could print them with no problem, & with excellent quality. Now that I have a printer attached to the XP computer, I receive an error message ("a problem has occurrd with Microsoft Photo Editor") and the request to send a report to Microsoft. (When I look for the file they are going to send I can't find it.) I can save the edited jpg file and open it in Photoshop 7.0, then print, but the quality isn't as good and it's more time consuming. There's no opportunity to specify page setting, printer etc. as the error message pops up as soon as I click on print. Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

Thanks for trying, but not really. Others having the same problem, but no solution. Paint is useless and Picture & Fax Viewer is good only for viewing, not for editing, cropping and printing. It's not clear what the "Irfanview" download will do, but may try it. Wonder why Microsoft has blocked Photo Editor from printing in preference to the useless Paint? May be easier to continue transferring to my Win98 computer for printing.

did you try renaming "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer"? I was skeptical but it worked for me -

After much searching I found a shortcut with a similar name and tried changing that, to no effect. It led to files of various names, not "Image Writer", and it wasn't oobvious which one or ones should be changed. Since Document Imaging apparently doesn't handle jpeg files, it doesn't seem that it should be related to the problem (but of course with Microsoft, one never knows!). Can you be more specific about which file should have its name changed? Were you working with jpeg files? Thanks
