I am trying to build another W2K server (stand alone, new domain). The only difference I know of between now and the last time I built a working W2K server is XPSP2. I am trying to add XP machines to the Windows 2000 domain (bare bones, fresh install server, nothing fancy) but I get this error message:

The following error occurred attempting to join the domain
The network path was not found.

I have tried everything (including keyword searches here) but cannot find the answer. Perhaps I forgot one little step in configuring the Server's DNS or Active Directory, but I don't know. Something must be different now. I would really appreciate any help because I have logged too many hours on this. Thank you.

The firewall that is implemented in SP2 will stop the workstations from finding the server. It's worth a look-see in the network card properties/advanced or the firewall icon in the control panel.

Regards,
David Tracy.
