Hallo,
I have similar a problem. We have installed storage node and backup server at 2 vary servers. And I have problem with client which is on the backup server.
The netw. clients have 2 network interfaces. These hostnames are in /etc/hosts.
host1c - ip adress backup interface
host2c - ip adress admin interface.

The storage node have interfaces:
host1s - IP adress backup interface
host2s - IP adress admin interface

I have created host2c as netw. client. I have added host2c and host1c to alises and I have filled field network server interface as host1c. The field of storage node is filled as host1s.

If finished at this mistake:

--- Unsuccessful Save Sets ---
* host2:index 1 retry attempted
* host2:index save: error, no matching devices; check storage nodes, devices or pools
* host2:index save: Cannot open save session with host2
* host2:bootstrap 1 retry attempted
* host2:bootstrap save: error, no matching devices; check storage nodes, devices or pools
* host2:bootstrap save: Cannot open save session with host2

--- Successful Save Sets ---
host2: /etc/hosts level=full, 6 KB 00:00:18 3 files

1.I have run nsrexecd -s host2c (becouse hostname networker client=hostname networker server)
2. /nsr/servers = host2c
3. I cannot delete client host2c becouse error message: host2c must be a client of itself.

Where is the problem?
Thanks

I still watched the processes at the netw. client when I run the groups and I could see:
1. /usr/sbin/nsrexec -T 1800 -- host2c:/etc/hosts
2. /usr/sbin/nsrexec -T 1800 -- host2c:index
3. /usr/sbin/nsrexec -T 1800 -- host2c:bootstrap

but ad1. it finished ok, bud ad2,3 it was failed (error, no matching devices; check storage nodes, devices or pools). What is it possible? I thought that save, index and bootstrap are backuped according to same configuration.

Do you have any idea?

the index and bootstrap can only be backed up by the Networker server itself. To get rid of the problem add in the resource of the client to be backed up under the "Storage node" Attribute: nsrserverhost.

The Storage node attribute should look as following:

host1s
nsrserverhost

you need the nsrserverhost to be able to back up the bootstrap and the index to the Networker server.

That should it be.

You could also create an extra group which only backes up the index of each client.

To do so you need to setup the existing pool with the option "Store index entries = NO" so no index will get backed up by this pool.

To back up only the index from clients in an extra group. First create a Group for the new clients. Then client resources of each client you add in the new group and write in the "Backup command" Attribute "savegrp -O"

Then create a Pool where the "Store index entries" Attribute is set to "YES"

so if you start the new group it will only save the index from each client.

hope this helps

Thanks for you answer but I have the attribute: nsrhostserver under storage node.

is nsrserverhost first or second order? Always the first attribute will be taken. The second one only will be taken if the first one ist unavailable.
Maybe the devices are all in use by the Backupserver?
clear the Networker server interface attribute and try.

You wan't to backup the Backupserver to the storagenode is this right?

please give me feedback.
regards

I had this problem setting up a storage node. I had to have a tape or filetype device mounted on the Networker server to backup the indexes. Now I have just one tape for that pool on the server and all the backups go to the storage node.

So try mounting one tape or create one filetype device and label it into the same pool as that savegroup and have it on or in the networker server.

Filetype will get very big so eventually you will need to go to tape.

I bet you have selected devices for your pool. To 95% this is not necessary and will cause problems.

Deselect those settings and make sure that media from this pool is available.

I have new informations. I run group with parameter verbose.

host2c /etc/hosts level=full, 6 KB 00:00:18 3 files

The atributte nsrserverhost is as second in field storage node. I want to backup on storage node, not on backup server. I filled blanks the field of networker server interface but same mistake.

I cannot have one tape in the library of the networker server becouse this library is not function. I can use only the library of the storage node.
I have not selected devices for the pool.

When I try another client which is networker client.

client - mean hostname of the backup interface of the networker client
server - mean hostname of the admin interface of the networker server

client:/etc/hosts level=full
client:index started
