i am running a windows xp sp2 os and i keep receiving the following error ever 1hour or so. i have an upto date antivirus package installed and have the latest windows defender definitions installed. i think the error message has started since i visited a web page.

16 bit dos subsystem
c:\windows\system32\DLH9JK~4.EXE
The NTDVM CPU has encountered an illegal operation and needs to be shutdown. Click close to terminate the application.

can anyone offer any advice how to remove/prevent?

Good advice Satrow...

quick: go to the file 'c:\windows\system32\DLH9JK~4.EXE' and delete it... then check your AUTOSTART RAMPS (ie. Autostart, Registry etc.) for the said file and delete it there...

HiJackThis does this for you nicely...

The q6-bit subsysstem can at times be a puzzle. I do not try to take lightly the suggestions above that malware can be the underlying issue behind your problem

But give the "traditional" fix for DOS/WOW compatiblity issues a try:
