I have a usb jump drive named scandisk and I am having trouble using it in office 2003 in xp pro. I have a dell optiplex pent. II 450 mhz and 256 mb ram. I was trying to save my work in word to the jump drive and I got an error messages stating" Warning: Make sure drive is not damage or full.", and drive is brand new. I cannot understand why I cannot save my work on the jump drive. I had ruled out the slower usb root hub of 1.0 as the problem because it is downward compatible and my friend has a optiplex pent III with the same usb root hub speed. What is going on here hardware or software?

Has the drive been formatted?

Can you write and save other files to it, what file system is it?

linney I am confused again because I tried it on another machine Dell gx270 pent. 4 and the jump drive saved the work instanly. Do you think my office 2003 is corrupt.

Can you clear up the age of the machines involved, you have mentioned Pentium 2,3 and 4, which indicates older machines may be a problem?

In the Pentium 2, is the Bios setup for USB support?

In the Help menu of Office programs there should be a "Detect and Repair" option.

When this USB drive is connected what does Disk Management say about it? Type compmgmt.msc in the Start Run box.
