Hi guys,

I recently dug out an old laptop of mine to start using for the Internet and email while my main machine is down, being upgraded. I wanted some protection so I installed a surplus copy of Norton Internet Security 2004 I had. Now the problems are begining
I now realise that mytrusty old laptop might not be up to the job of running the software since it only has 32Mb RAM and a 533 Celeron and Norton recomend at least 64Mb but it seemed to install okay?
Anyways, I now can't boot into 98SE because of this message:

While initializing device IOS:
ERROR: Real mode system memory allocation failed.

Ay ideas/solutions?

Cheers,

Sam.

Try booting into safemode and uninstall the norton software.

It won't let me uninstall the software by going into add/remove programs. Shall I try and delete it manually?

I've also un-selected everything from MScofig/Startup/ I still get the same message?

Thanks for your help.

Sam.

Try unticking Config.sys and Autoexec.bat in msconfig and boot into safe mode first..run scandisk...try add/remove...if no go
Try the same but boot into full windows, try add/remove.
