Error message when i install a network printer !!!!!

If I try to install a network printer on a compaq dp4000 with NT workstation 4.0 sp6a the message is the following:
"could not connect to the printer . The print processor is unknown".
My pc reach the printer server and the network printer, too !!!!
Any ideas ?

Try loading the drivers for the printer.

try adding the printer as a local printer and give the machine the relevant drivers.
The change the printing port from LPT1 to the network path....... (i.e. \\server1\laser )
