I found a lot of users got the D106 message when using Groupwise, is it possible to rebuild the index of post office database? If possible, please advice how to do it.

You are probably right in your assumption of a problem with the PO index. If memory serves me a D106 is a general DB error. Which could be as simple as index and data not being synchronized. Here is a good guide for maintenance of GW databases (WPDOMAIN & WPHOST). The information is based on a 5.x GW system. Which should still be accurate if you are on a GW 6.x version. Not to insult your intelligence, but if you are on GW 6.x.x you should only use ConsoleOne for administration and maintenance procedures. I know of a few admins. mistakingly using NWAdminxx on a GW 6 or above system. Have a good one!
