Many times, (but not always) when our users log on to the domain, they get the following error:

Description: Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - The requested resource is in use.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks much for the reply bcastner...no, this is not a Linux/Samba domain, it's Windows Server 2003.

Unfortunately, the above link doesn’t seem to be the problem either. All of the computers are updated to SP2, which would fix the above problem. I think the pertinent info in the error message the users are receiving is when it states, “DETAIL - The requested resource is in use.” I can’t figure out what that means, and why it only happens some of the time. The resource shouldn't be in use at the time because it is their profile.

Any idea's?

It usually means:
. a logon is active for that user on another workstation
. or, the date/time settings at the workstation are incorrect
