MY
I have recently  bought a new Western digital 40GB hard disk and I created dual booting. The 2 OS that i used are Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows XP.It seems that recently,my computer restarts by itself whenever it wants to and sometimes,it will run smoothly. Whenever the computer restarts after its sudden Shut Down, there will be an error message popped out on the screen. The error messages are F:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini1\12203-01.dmp and F:\DOCUME~1\SINGYE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERS.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml.The pop up error message also stated that windows have just recovered from a serious error.
Does it mean that my computer cannot support dual botting? How can i solve the problem? Can i repair using XP CD?Why does my computer restarts by itself?Has it got anything to do with the compatibility of my hardware? Please help.Thank you so much in advance for the advice.

It is not a dual-booting issue. It has everything to do with the compatability and soundness of your hardware and drivers.

Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. What are the error events recorded their for the restart events?

right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery - Settings, and uncheck to automaticly restart on an error. This will give you a blue screen with an error message the next time.

To get further information about the error look in your Event viewer.

Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.

Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.

Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on this site.

Also check any "Information" line that mentions "savedump" and you should find reference to "recovered from a bug check". This is the Stop Error that caused your problem.

HOW TO: Verify Unsigned Device Drivers in Windows XP

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

You could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
