installed new cpu and mobo recently and system ahs been flakey since - gigabyte 7M400 pro 2 board and 3000ghz Athlon with existing hyper X DDR 400 memory (existing & previously solid), Geforce 4 Ti4800se graphics (also previously solid) 80 gig drive. System has restarted itself when I load a game.
Tonight, big tantrum from it and now when i try to reinstall win xp pro, i get various error messages: an example - \i386\ntkrnlmp.exe was not found, unable to continue set up - error code 4 - but these erors change from restart to retart - when the drive is disconnected, same error occurs........
Any ideas? Boot loop at the mo, tried taking out different RAM & replacing - no dice - the CPU was an OEM rather than a PIB which annoyed us at the time but suppliers had nothing else - is this the suspect? Would be grateful for clues guys....
