Can you open the offending files using any other application on your machine?

yeha man i can, so im notsure what to do really... would u like a screen of the setting i am using in premiere? any help u cna give is greatly appreciated...

What other applications on your machine can read these files? Do you have some form of "bonus"ware, such as VideoWave installed, perhaps? If so, can you open the file in any video editor other than Premiere?

umm i jsut tried opening it in windows media player 9 and it worked fine umm i dont have any bonus ware, not sure what that is and i dont have any other video editors although im thinking of switching to avid express :p nah i dunno man, whatcha thnkin could be the problem? thanks again edward!

btw my msn messenger is murph_man98@hotmail.com if u wanna talk in person and have that program... if not thats cool i understand prolly jsut easier than replying to this over and over but its all good

Okay, if you can open and edit and export other AVI files, then it's very likely that Premiere isn't directly the problem.

You can see and read the files in other viewers, so that's promising.

"Bonusware" is what I also call "shovelware", which is what a computer manufacturer shovels onto your computer to increase its "value" without increasing its value.

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing Premiere? It could be that you installed some new codec or something since you installed Premiere. Re-installing Premiere might help that.
