Had the same problem backing up with ver 10 SP5.
Backing up a win 2003 sp2 server ( failing ) on another 2003 sp2 server . Not running sharepoint or exchange .
Symantech/Veritas wont give you the media or the link to the 10d install disk .

I started testing the upgrade process as follows .
Installed 10 then installed SP5 be5484RSP5_286626.exe
and then be5484RHF39_289170.exe .
Restart
Installed the serial numbers that im licensed for .
Keep in mind that Im using a TEST laptop with vista on so it keeps on moaning it is not supposed to work ......
The first test backup of the failing server gave the same error , backed up something else on a different server sucsess .
So started installing 10d , it actualy picked up the previous licenses registerd on my test laptop .
Restart.
Try to backup the failing server on the test laptop gives error ( needs new remote agent on failing server to work )
TEST: Restore 10sp5 backup - WORKS .
Install new remote agent to server .
Restart server .
Try backup again , Vista laptop gives error about the device not being connected when doing the selection to the server .
CRY A LITTLE
Try to backup the failing server from the original backup server . Freaking works ....
Looks like the 10d remote agent did the trick will update tommorow after tonights full system backup .
