I have some kind of corrupt registry key that I cant fix or delete.

The key is HKLM\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\PipeName

When I browse to it in Registry Editor, I get
"Cannot open PipeName: Error while opening key"

If I try and delete it, I get
"Cannot delete PipeName: Error while deleting key"

If I use regedt32 to try and edit the permissions, I get the message "You do not have permission to view security settings, but you can make changes". If I try and give local administrator access, I get the message "Unable to save, access is denied"

I have tried restarting in safe mode and the same occurs

I have tried using System Restore to go back to a point before the problem occurred, but the faulty key is still there.

Any ideas?!

Hello Chopsy,

While opening, use regedt32 rather than regedit. Get full permission to the key. Then delete from thereon.

As I said in my message, even if I try and open with regedt32, I get an error, and can't change the permissions.

Chopsy,

>You do not have permission to view security settings, [blue]but you can make changes[/blue]

You said you cannot afterall. Then, I've no simple idea... except to do some research!
