Hi,

I installed and ran McAffee Quick Clean 3, and in the process deleted some registry settings from from fonts that it said it where missing.

Now I am getting an error message (below) and my computer is rebooting before it completes loading win2K pro and I'm pretty sure its because of these changes to the registry. I backed up the registry so I could replace it with the back up but I cant get into the machine to do it ('cos it keeps rebooting)...

Any ideas how I can get in to replace the old registry file?

The error message is something like...(doesnt stay on the screen for long!)
Stop 0x00000050 (0xA02FD000, 0X00000001, 0A0002584, 0x00000000)
Address A0002584 Base A000000 datestamp 4047dcd6 win32k.sys
page_fault_nonpaged_area
Beginning dump of physical memory
I have run a microsoft ram checker that said everything was fine and tried booting in safe mode but still rebotted before I could get in...

Any help greatly appreciated,

Jamie

Hi,

thanks for the links, very clear instructions - unfortunately I couldn't get it to run regedit or anything other than a few commands.

I'm 99% sure its the registry now as I have put another hard drive in and it worked fine - so I'm thinking maybe I'll try replacing the win32k.sys file with the one from the hard drive that boots ok?

I'm not sure what I'm doing anymore but I guess I cant break it any more than it already is...

Thanks,

Jamie
