Server is unable to obtain a server base license unit. Connection to the server is not allowed. This error is generating in the system log and users logging in are being granted a grace connection. I've installed the licenses using remote manager and verified that NLSLSP is loading..
Please advise on how to make licensing units available and verify NLS operation..

when you type version at the server

what does it say

at the end it should say audited if it's an mla
hard stop for something else
and a few other options

i assume you mean you installed license throu imanage - i could be wrong but you cant add it throu remote manager - only nwadmin or imangae

When typing version at the console:

(C) Copyright 1983-2003 Novell Inc. All Rights Reserved. Patent Pending.
Server Version 5.70 October 9, 2003
Novell eDirectory Version 8.7.1 SMP
NDS Version 10510.64 July 11, 2003
Server License: Novell NetWare 6 Server 650 Not Acquired :
Yes, I did use nwadmin to install the license because Imanager also is not functioning on this server...
When checking tcpcon ports 636 is not on the open list of ports...
Any suggestions please?

this hasnt installed the licence
do you see it in nwadmin?

is everything in sync?
nwadmin will install the lic ok
try reinstalling it - do you get any errors
install it into same container

it should get it instantly

fix the imanage after it

Even though NW6.5 doesn't care about server connections, you still need a server base license installed in your tree.

If your VERSION command says the license is not acquired, its either because it's not installed or it can't find it. It should be in same container or above in the tree.

You should have it on the same license media that you got your connection licenses from.
