Hi,
I'm working on a small program in access 2000 on my local pc at home. Today while working in the code I receive a strange message box titeled Microsoft Visual Basic, stating "Error accessing file.Network connection may have been lost." This message is poping up each minute or after each action or debug. Also in other databases I receive this message and if I don't save my code manually it's lost. I have a second pc networked but working localy. Before this is happened I ran a Windows XP update for SP1 and rebooted. I don't seem to locate this problem, could this update may be causing this? Has anybody encountered this?
Thanks in advance.

is your Database on a Network Drive - is the Database your working linked to another Database where the data is located.

Maybe you have certain drives mapped that are disconected.

Check it out

Hi,
I found an article in MS KB article telling that this error can be caused when you import any object containing a module and then close the database before you compile the VBA project. Other possible causes are
outlined in this KB article:

ACC2000: Error Message: Error Accessing File. Network Connection May Have Been Lost.
(Q304548)

I created a new database and have imported all the objects into this new database. The only thing I had to do was create the references to libraries in the new database. The problem seem to be solved :)

Hi, Aydan. Just another tidbit. This error message can also occur if you do any cutting/copying/pasting of objects within your database and then save before compling. It doesn't necessarily have to be an imported object.

And I did!! I copied some of the forms from an other program that I could reuse. I can say that I'm at least badly punished for doing so. When I read the KB article I thought that I can start my project all over again! fortunately I could save it! Have downloaded the sp3 of office2000 and this should prevent that this will ever happen again, lets hope so!
