86: The file table is full.

Using the Setup utility, specify a higher value for the Open Files configuration option.

This is not the answer we have about 150 offices working with the program only one (new) user has the problem.
I would expect that it could happen to older users.

Does anyone have a clue?

Assuming the status 86 is correct...

1) You are running PSQL2000 on the server, but the workstation has an older Btrieve 6.15 workstation engine on it. Look for W32MKDE.EXE or WBTR32.EXE on the workstation and server and rename these if found.

2) You are running PSQL2000 on the workstation, but the NetWare server is running a client/server Btrieve engine. Either upgrade the server to PSQL2000 and configure it correctly or disable the server's engine.

There is one other possiblity. You may have installed Pervasive.SQL 2000i over an older version of Pervasive.SQL or Btrieve 6.15 and it picked up the old settings. Since it is 2000i then there is no place in the PCC to change these settings to the default, so you have to go into the registry to update them. When looking at the registry I would always recommend to back it up completely before opening it with regedit or regedt32, and also export the Pervasive keys before changing them. Open files has a maximum value default of 10000 files and handles would be set to 100000. Resetting things via the registry is never recommended but in this instance it is the only viable way to do so.
