My report is created in Crystal Reports ver 8.5 and when I save the report in Crystal Report ver 9 and I run the report I get the err msg: error 723: failed to open rowset

The database connectivity might be the culprit, try changing to another type of connectivity.

In the Record Selection Formula Editor I commented out a line in the query and the report worked fine... the line contained:
not({table1.field1} in ["az","bc"])
not({table1.field1} in ["az","bc"])
