Error 3669 on OpenRecordset Occurs occasionally

(VBA, Excel 97) This has been buggin me in some code I was given to work on, and I'm at a loss to find details on the error in the MSDN site. Does this just mean to close the old recordset before starting a new one, or is there some deeper significance?

It only happens occasionally, and once I continue the code the recordset is returned and the program acts like nothing happened.

I have been experiencing the same problem on a database with which I am working. It has been a year since your posting, and you have probably solved the problem by now, and I have the same question. I was wondering if you, or someone else would be able to assist me with the problem. I did want to ask you if your database was linked to an AS400 (or other IBM) database. The reason that I mention this is that I found a website listing IBM post codes that identifies error 3669 as "Cannot interrupt on command pass through." The actual web address is

This has been an extremely frustrating error for my team since we can find no documentation regarding it. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same error number 3669, message is different - "3669 Execution terminated". I only have this problem while performing SELECT queries that return a great amount of rows (more than 60000, with an average length of 100 bytes each row). Maybe is this problema same for you...
