Error 2314 using Net Watcher Administer Funciton 1

We have a major problem with two database files not closing properly on a WIN98 used as a sever.

When we use the Net Watcher program and try to close these files, we get error 2314 and cannot close them. We have determined that no one else has these files open on the network.

The only solution has been to restart the server.

Any ideas?

Hi,

The application might not be correctly closing the files OR windows 98 just isn't handling the closing correctly.

All I can say is that this is a problem with Windows 98 and some software - no patch or workaround.

Try and upgrade the software, failing that you'll need to upgrade to a server.

Finally found the problem, but it has nothing to do with operating system or network. It was an intermittent problem with one prg that failed in very unusual circumstances and alway at 4 A.M.; the prg was in an endless loop and was difficult to track.

By going to the customer site at 4 A.M. and using the FILEMON and NETWATCHER, we finally found the problem.
