Hi,
I am trying to support a user who is trying to use our software programmed in Visual Basic 6.

He has a partitioned computer:

The C: Drive holds Windows 98

The E: Drive holds Windows XP

He has our software loaded on Windows 98 partition which is working fine but he wants to load it on the Windows XP partition. I run through a successful install with him but when trying to access the program via the shortcut, he receives the above message.

He has 5.33 GB of free space on the E: drive (our Program requires 250MB and 64MB of RAM)There are no other applications running!

I checked out his performance in Task Manager which is:

PHYSICAL
Total: 261096
Available: 113300
Systam Cache: 101732

KERNEL
Total: 17532
Paged: 12872
Non Paged: 4656

Could this be a problem with Virtual Memory settings?

Sorry, probably guessing and grasping at straws. Am just a bit baffled!

Could anyone please help, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you!
xx

As a guess it likely has nothing to do with physical RAM or virtual memory. Google Groups on "Error -2147024882" (and use the quotation marks) and you will see various and sundry reasons for the error to be thrown besides RAM or virtual memory issues.

Software written for older OS might not run under XP.
Have you tried to run it in compatibility mode?

Hello,
It is definitely software written to be compatible with XP as we have hundreds of XP users. We send our software out to 18, 000 users at a time and the operating system we do not support as it is not compatible with are Windows 95 and NT.
I have had a look on Google already but can't really find anything specific which indicates exactly what the problem is.
I will try again though, this time using the quotation marks ;)
Thank you

Well I have had a look on Google and all sites (I have gone through three pages) either suggest the obvious like re-booting and making sure nothing is running in the background etc or say that this error actually has nothing to do with RAM, which is fine....but then what is it about???!!!!!

The system has been re-installed so many times and I have checked everything that I can think of!

Can anyone please help?

I would be so grateful!

Well I went to Google groups (sorry for not noticing that before!) and am no further on with my quest!

There really is not alot of information on this error at all and I cannot find anything concrete about this error, sorry but I am a fussy one!

I have installed MDAC 2.7 as this was a suggestion and also installed JET40SP7, have disabled all the startup options and searched for MSVBVM60.dll and registered this file. I am still nowhere!

Apparantly this message is related to VB/VBA Access Apps but that is the only concrete info to go on!

I am losing the will to live!!
