Well, does that folder exist & can you access it? You need to tell us what is causing the error. If the folder exists check the permissions on it.

yes the folder and file exist. how do i check the permission on it? do you mean if it is read only - cause it is - and since it's the installlation cd i obviously can't change that. what causes the error is opening outlook 2000. then twice it tries to install crap and halfway through asks for MS office disk 2 - looks for the file then pops up with this eror message. i don't even know why or what it is installing. it gets stuck on 3 different files so far - latest one is d:\pfiles\msoffice\office\sbt\sbfm\reports\chinsteq.xls.

You should have said it was a CD!!!!!!!!!

You have a few options.
Check the CD is clean. Check the disk in another drive. Try copying the CD to your harddrive and installing from there as sometimes even when a direct install from CD fails, copying it succeeds.
