error 1053 with windows service

I have written a windows service and am trying to get it running on another machine. When I try to run it I get

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I have installed SP1 for version 1.1 of the .Net Framework as Microsoft have suggested, yet still get the same error. I am running the service under an account with Admin permissions also.

Any ideas? Thread thread96-761121 mentions this but has been archived
