I have seen that error come up on phones (3904's) when i have made a change. the error comes up usually a few seconds after the last key stroke. I was able to dupe the problem with my own phone after doing an easy change. couldnt figure out why or a fix. it usually never happened after that though.
it really is not an error to pay too much mind to(in my opinion at least). it has no effect to the phone or the switch that i have ever seen. its just one of those codes you see on the terminal like DTC001 and you just get used to. At least for me.
Add On Module, which you probably don't have, but that err80 relates to upper keys being pressed.
ERR0080 tn key
Key input from software-unequipped add-on module.
Action: Check SL-1 telephone data. Ensure that add-on module is defined
and that key number is less than last key.
Severity: Minor
an add on module and sidecar is slange, not in the book..
i find the cause of every err80 that hits my screen.. if you program a set as a 2008 and plug in a 2616.. you press any key past 7 you get an error 80.. those can be a bad set, a stuck key etc.. ERR080 128 0 14 12 172, that one about 8:30 this morning was caused by sharing a cup of coffee with a 3904... the 172 gives that away.. since the 04 does not usually have that many keys, the switch saw several depressed together... replaced the set, billed the end user..
i never recogmend ignoring any error codes.. that was not really the reason nortel sent them to the screen.. but the good news is if you ignore enough of them, nortel will fix a lot of them with a free ini...
good point john. stuck keys could give that error. I have seen with stuck keys where any other key you press will activate the key that is stuck. usually after i have put in new labels.
