Hi,

Anyone perform an update using RDISK, then try to create the ERD to floppy only to get a message stating that the information will not fit on that floppy ?

Is there a workaround ?

Thank you,
Mike

Haven't run into this one per se, but make sure you are starting with a completely blank, freshly formatted floppy - WITHOUT the system files.

:-)

yes, formatted fdd using winnt...1.38mb

if i go to c:\winnt\repair the folder size is 1.66mb !

ouch !

Is this a domain controller? Can you give me a list of the contents of the REPAIR folder?

I had this before what i did was delete the folder that it store the files in run the rdisk command with a /s (im not too sure on the switch so correct me if s is wrong) this recretaes the folder and I was then able to cretae the disk. Ive only run into this 1 time in 2 years

Allset....

I deleted the repair folder, and performed an update ( rdisk /s is the same as clicking the update buoon ) then let NT create and save the configuration to floppy.

Thanks for the help !
Mike

Glad it worked out - apparently there was something in that directory that didn't belong there. BTW - RDISK /S is not the same as selecting the 'update' button. The /S is only required on domain controllers - it pulls user/group accounts from the SAM database, and stores them in the REPAIR folder - obviously this would be WAAAYYY too big for a floppy...
