Erasing Tapes

what is the fastest way to erase DDS3 tapes? we have like 50 of them and need to get rid of the data on them before we toss them, just didn't know if i had to sit in front of a computer all day popping tapes in and out of the drive...

You need to degauss the media.

does your company have a on-site document destruction service like Shred-IT or Shred-Pro?

If so they will take a small percentage of non paper material.

At our site we despool the tape media from the reel and put it in the shred bins for pickup later that day. Hard to read a tape when its in a billion tiny peices.

Ours won't allow stuff like that cuz it gets burned, and we shred it ourselves... What about magnets? Like if i pulled a couple of harddrive magnets out of a drive????
