Hi,

Does anyone have a good way of erasing tapes? We just installed a new tape drive with more capacity, and to make sure everything went smoothly we did a small backup on our old tapes/drive. Now that everythings is up and working, we want to sell our old tape drive and tapes, but I want to make sure we erase the data off the tapes. Any ideas?

dd if=/dev/null of=/dev/rmt??? +other options for blocks, counting etc.

Kind Regards,

I dont have the tape drive in the system anymore and the new tape drive is LTO and my old tapes are DAT 72. So can I use a magnet or what to erase them???
