Erase Tape on job start?

We are using Backup Exec 8.5 for Small Business Server.

Is it possible to create a job that formats the tape at the start of a backup job?

What would you want to erase the tape? If you have the media sets setup correctly you shouldnt have to erase the tapes before a job
