I recently installed the Epson Stylus 660 Printer on my Pentium II 333 pc. My pc was put together in parts. When I installed the Parallel printer.... I could NOT get connectivity using the parallel port. I then installed a USB Card and used the Belkin USB to Parallel adapter cord to connect my printer to my PC. I have connectivity (meaning that there is NO Connectivity Error Message that displayed before) but NOTHING Prints?? Also.. my pc will NOT boot up when the USB cord is connected to my pc. I have to pull out the USB cord while booting up to achieve a successful boot up.

Can someone help me get this printer to print?

Thanks. [sig][/sig]

well if you are using your Printer port to use the USB (which doesnt make much since, because the 'root' of the problem wasnt working) your USB would probaly say it's working cuz yer getting some juice out of it, check your BIOS (reboot and press F9 to enter setup) and check what Parrallel port mode you have, it might be SPP, or None, if so you may want to change to BiDirectional, Normal, or ECP/EPP [sig]<p>Karl<br><a href=mailto:kb244@kb244.com>kb244@kb244.com</a><br><a href= </a><br>Experienced in : C++(both VC++ and Borland),VB1(dos) thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, HTML, Visual InterDev 6(ASP(WebProgramming/Vbscript)<br>

Problem is normally approched in three parts. Is the parallel port activated in BIOS? Is the parallel port set for LPT1 address? Does it show on the splash screen of the BIOS during boot up? If any of these are no, then hardware/BIOS problems except your BIOS may not splash the address.

Second part is the physical connection. What kind of M/B are you using and what are the LPT connections. Some M/Bs use 26 pin IDH ribbon cable header for the jumper between the M/B and the DB25s that is the printer connector on the back of the computer. These headers come off the pins easily, sometimes by bumping the box. They also are prone to being installed one row off. And yours wouldn't be the first to have a defective cable. And if you have ATX M/B none of this part applies.

Third part is the troubleshooting. Probably best in DOS as there is less overhead. [sig]<p>Ed Fair<br><a href=mailto: efair@atlnet.com> efair@atlnet.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. <br>
