My predecessor installed the ePO database on MSDE. Now the db is full (2GB limit). I'm standing up a new Windows 2003 Server with SQL Server 2000. Anybody know of a good "cookbook" for migrating my existing MSDE ePO DB to SQLSERVER? I know there is such a microsoft document, but I'm looking for something specific to this activity taking into account the ePO underpinnings.

Thanks,
Brian

I would start with McAfee's ePO installation documentation, which is what I did. I upgraded my old ePO Server from MSDE to SQL 2000 using McAfee's documentation without any problems. Then to switch it over to a new server, I backed up my ePO database on the old server and powered down that server. Then I built a new ePO Server using the name of the original ePO Server and checked in all the software packages to match my old server. When my new server matched the config of my old server, I then restored the database from my old server on to my new server and all the original policies were restored properly.

It may be best to build a test server first and test your upgrade process before doing the real server.
